Bridesmaids hair & makeup: how to organise it

The bigger the party, the more the schedule matters. Here's how to keep it smooth and on budget.

Start with numbers

Count exactly who needs hair and makeup — bridesmaids, mums, and often a couple of guests who assume they're included. Knowing the number up front lets your artist quote accurately and plan timing.

If the group is large, some brides have a second artist join so everyone is ready without an early start.

Agree a look, not a uniform

A shared colour direction with individual tweaks keeps photos cohesive while letting each bridesmaid feel like herself. Nobody wants to look identical in every shot.

Ask bridesmaids to keep their own makeup minimal and skin prepped — it speeds up the morning and improves the result.

Budget fairly

It's common (and kind) to tell bridesmaids the cost upfront, or to cover it as their gift. Agree it early to avoid awkwardness on the day.

Once the numbers and looks are set, the morning runs itself — and everyone can relax with a glass of something.
