Video Shoot Makeup

Video shoot makeup for talent who need to look right on screen.

Video is less forgiving than stills: the camera moves, the lights change and talent is on screen for minutes at a time. I provide a makeup artist for video shoots, travelling to your set, studio or location across London and Essex.

Video work I take on

What on-camera makeup needs

Skin must stay even and controlled under HD cameras and changing lights, without looking heavy. I keep shine under control, keep colour consistent between takes, and carry a kit for fast touch-ups between setups so the shoot does not stop for makeup.

On set

I work from your call sheet, arrive before the first call to prepare talent, and can stay for the day. Tell me the number of people, the looks and whether continuity is needed from scene to scene.

I have worked on video shoots, TV commercial and e-commerce campaigns, and brand work seen on billboards across London. See editorial & e-commerce makeup and photoshoot and studio makeup, or send your brief.

Why video makeup is different

On video, shine, texture and colour shift as people move and as lights are adjusted. I prepare skin so it stays even under strong lighting, and I choose products that do not flash back or look heavy on camera. Between takes I can touch up quickly so you do not lose shooting time.

Types of video shoot

Commercials and brand films. Multiple talent, multiple looks and a tight schedule. I work from your call sheet and keep looks consistent between setups.

Social and content days. For influencers, small brands and salons filming several pieces in one day, I prepare you once and stay on hand to refresh the look.

Interviews and corporate video. Presenters and speakers want to look natural, confident and unshiny under studio lights.

Creative and music projects. I enjoy bolder, more expressive looks when the concept calls for it.

Continuity

If a scene is shot out of order, I note the look, so makeup matches across the day. Tell me early if continuity is a concern.

Preparing talent for the camera

Before filming, I prepare the skin so foundation sits evenly, then build coverage lightly and set only where needed. For talent who will be on camera for hours, I use finishes that hold their colour and do not break up as the day goes on. If you are presenting, I check the look against the camera and lights before you go on.

Timings and planning

For a single presenter, allow roughly 30 to 45 minutes for the first application. For several people, send me the schedule and I will plan prep order, so the people filming first are done first. If your shoot runs a full day, I can stay for touch-ups after lunch and before the evening setups.

Working with directors and producers

I am comfortable taking direction, whether the brief is natural and neutral or bold and stylised. I stay quiet on set, keep out of shot and flag anything that might cause continuity problems, such as hair across the face or lip colour fading after drinks.
